other readings I have done on the history of Mexico, King’s interpretation is very accurate. Her dates and her facts are all on target. The only difference is that most other books focus more on the Olmec cities because they were the founders of the Mexican cultures. For example, Neil Baldwin writes, “The essential unity and crucial interdependence pervading the Mesoamerican community was set in motion by the Olmec, bears of the ‘Mother Culture.’”
